Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Family Plates mobile application ("App") operated by Family Plates ("we", "us", or "our"). By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms.

1. Use of the App

You must be at least 13 years old to use Family Plates. By using the App, you represent that you meet this requirement.

You agree to use the App only for lawful purposes and in a way that does not infringe the rights of others. You must not:

• Attempt to access another user's account without permission.
• Use the App to distribute harmful, offensive, or unlawful content.
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or otherwise attempt to extract the source code of the App.
• Use automated tools to scrape or extract data from the App.

2. Accounts

To use most features of Family Plates, you must create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately if you believe your account has been compromised.

3. Subscriptions and In-App Purchases

Family Plates offers a free tier with core features. We also offer a Pro subscription that unlocks additional capabilities. The following applies to paid features:

• Subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis (monthly or annual) through the App Store or Google Play.
• Prices are displayed before purchase and may change with reasonable notice.
• Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
• You can cancel your subscription at any time through your app store account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — no partial refunds are issued.
• All purchases are subject to the refund policies of Apple App Store or Google Play, as applicable.

4. User-Generated Content

Family Plates allows you to create and store recipes, meal plans, and related content ("Your Content"). You retain ownership of Your Content. By storing it in the App, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store and process Your Content solely to provide the service to you.

You are responsible for ensuring that Your Content does not infringe any third-party rights (for example, by copying a copyrighted recipe verbatim without permission).

We do not claim any ownership over Your Content, and we do not share it with other users without your explicit action (e.g., sharing with a household member).

5. AI-Generated Content

Some features of Family Plates may use artificial intelligence to generate or assist with recipe data, ingredient parsing, or meal suggestions. These outputs are provided for convenience and may not always be accurate, complete, or suitable for your specific needs. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying any content before relying on it, especially for dietary, allergy, or cooking-related decisions.

6. Availability and Changes

We aim to keep Family Plates available at all times, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. We may update, modify, or discontinue features at any time. Where possible, we will give reasonable notice of significant changes.

7. Intellectual Property

All elements of Family Plates — including its design, branding, and underlying technology — are owned by us or our licensors. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of any intellectual property to you.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Family Plates and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App. This includes, but is not limited to, loss of data, loss of revenue, or any harm resulting from reliance on content within the App.

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.

9. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time through the App settings. Upon termination, your data will be handled as described in our Privacy Policy.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which we operate, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the App or by email. Continued use of the App after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
