We collect information you provide directly when you create an account or use the app:

• Account data: your email address and, if you choose, a display name.
• Recipes and meal plans: recipes you create or import, your weekly meal plans, and any notes or modifications you save.
• Shopping list data: grocery lists generated from your meal plans, including ingredient selections and pantry exclusions.
• Household data: if you create or join a household, we store the household membership and any shared meal requests.

We also collect limited technical data automatically:

• Device type and operating system version (for debugging and compatibility).
• Crash reports and app performance data.
• Push notification tokens, if you grant notification permissions.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and maintain the core features of Family Plates (meal planning, recipe storage, shopping lists).
• To send push notifications you have opted into (e.g., reminders or household meal requests).
• To improve the app based on aggregate usage patterns.
• To manage your account and respond to support requests.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. Third-Party Services

Family Plates uses the following third-party services to operate:

• Supabase — database and authentication. Your account data and app content is stored on Supabase's infrastructure. See supabase.com/privacy.
• OpenAI — used to assist with recipe import and ingredient parsing features. Relevant content may be sent to OpenAI's API for processing. See openai.com/policies/privacy-policy.
• RevenueCat — used to manage in-app subscriptions and purchases. See revenuecat.com/privacy.

4. Push Notifications

If you grant permission, we may send push notifications for things like household meal requests or weekly planning reminders. You can disable notifications at any time through your device's system settings.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

7. Children's Privacy

Family Plates is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
